Fall Picnic scheduled for October 3, 2021
The Old Dauphin Way Association will host a picnic for all Old Dauphin Way residents on Sunday, October 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year the picnic will be held in the parking lot of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, at the corner of Dauphin and Catherine Streets. (The location of the church’s annual pumpkin patch, held later in the month.)
Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share for an old-fashioned “pot luck” dinner. Hot dogs can be purchased from Joe’s Kitchen and Hotdog Cart which will be parked on site. Regular hot dogs will cost $4.00 and jumbo dogs and sausage dogs will be $7.00. ODWA will provide sodas, water, and homemade ice cream.
Entertainment will be provided by The String Slingers, a local bluegrass/Americana/folk group with roots in the ODW neighborhood.
Come enjoy a relaxing afternoon of food, music, and fellowship with your neighbors. Although we will have some tables and chairs available, you may want to bring your own portable chair or picnic blanket. Also, please note that this is an alcohol-free event.
We hope to see you on October 3rd!
Next general meeting of the Old Dauphin Way Association has been postponed
The board of ODWA reluctantly decided to postpone the next general meeting, which had been scheduled for early September, due to the spike in Corona virus cases locally. We are hoping to reschedule that meeting for early January. Our plans are to have a panel discussion featuring three individuals involved with current renovation projects on historic houses. The three speakers will include an architect, a relator, and a contractor. They will speak on the advantages of buying an older home in a historic neighborhood, and what is involved in doing renovations. This meeting will appeal to both first-time home buyers thinking of purchasing a home in Old Dauphin Way, and “seasoned” historic home owners who want advice on remodeling issues.
Please bear with us as we re-build our website. In the near future we will publish events for the remainder of 2021.
